5 dicas para manter a cozinha organizada

5 tips for keeping the kitchen organized

More than an aesthetic concern, kitchen organization is essential for making everyday tasks easier. And if we can combine organization and decoration in the same space, even better! Check out our tips and put them into practice at home. We’re sure they’ll be a success.

1 - Cleaning comes before organizing

Start by removing everything from the cabinets. With the drawers and shelves free of utensils, it will be easier to clean them, removing any dust or crumbs that accumulate over time. This will also give you an idea of everything you have stored and allow you to select what you no longer use or use less often. This selection will be essential for putting the next tip into practice.

2 - Organize drawers and shelves

Once the previous task is complete, you can return everything to its proper place. Store away or give away utensils you do not use or rarely use, and place accessories that you use occasionally in the least accessible drawers and shelves. In the most accessible spaces, you should keep everything you use on a daily basis. On the countertop or on open shelves, you can also leave those smaller, essential accessories that are best kept close at hand.

3 - Use boxes and labels

Using boxes or labels keeps your utensils more organized inside drawers and helps you find small accessories more quickly and efficiently. And just as important as putting this tip into practice is remembering where you decided to store each item!

4 - The refrigerator matters too

Keeping the refrigerator clean and organized is essential for maintaining an organized kitchen and making meal preparation easier. Among other things, make sure that, every time you go grocery shopping, you store the freshest foods in the least accessible areas of the refrigerator and place products with the shortest shelf life in the most visible areas.

Also make sure to organize foods by category and periodically check all the contents of the refrigerator. This way, you can keep track of products that may be spoiling and avoid unnecessary purchases (if you are concerned about food waste, read our article on the subject).

5 - Keep the floor and countertop clean

Small actions can make a difference when it comes to keeping the kitchen (and the home in general) organized. Try putting away all food or utensils immediately after using them, cleaning the countertop with a suitable detergent whenever you finish preparing a meal, and vacuuming the floor regularly throughout the week.

With these measures, you’ll notice that the space stays looking much fresher and cleaner, without the usual effort of major weekly cleanups.
