We’ve already talked here about caring for clothes when the seasons change, but the truth is that these practices should be maintained throughout the year if we want to keep everything organized and ready to use at any time. With this in mind, today we’re sharing some important tips for keeping clothes smelling fresh in your wardrobe.
Care to take during washing
Before putting everything away in the respective wardrobes, it’s important to pay attention to a few aspects that will help fabrics retain a pleasant scent for longer.
Check that the washing machine is clean and in good condition (if it isn’t, it should be serviced); always use fabric softener in every wash (this gives clothes an extra fragrance, as well as a softer feel); hang the clothes out immediately after washing and, preferably, outdoors to prevent them from developing an unpleasant smell.
Perfume your clothes while ironing
This is another additional step that will help keep your clothes smelling fresh for longer. When ironing them, use a scented spray and spritz them. In addition to the various options available to buy, you can always prepare a mixture of water and a few drops of an essential oil of your choice.
Keep wardrobes clean and well ventilated
Make sure that wardrobes and drawers are properly clean and well ventilated. Otherwise, even if you take every precaution when washing and ironing your clothes, you may be greeted by unpleasant odors when it’s time to wear them.
Use scented sachets in your wardrobes
You can choose from the various products available on the market or make your own natural air fresheners. To do this, simply fill small fabric bags (preferably made of thick fabric) with your favorite scents: lavender, rosemary, or citrus peels are just a few examples.
Hang the sachets on hangers or place them in drawers, next to the clothes for subtler results or among them for a more intense effect.
